Tripod Trixie

Meet Tripod Trixie! Trixie is a 3-year-old Australian cattle dog mix weighing a little under 30 pounds. As her name suggests, she has only three legs, but she doesn’t let that stop her! Her right hind leg was removed at some point in her past for reasons unknown, and she navigates so well that many people she meets don’t even realize it at first. She has no problem with stairs or hopping up onto chairs, and can handle a decently long walk. Trixie truly believes that strangers are just best friends she hasn’t met yet- maybe you could be her new best friend?

Tripod Trixie currently lives with 4 cats and 2 other dogs, so she can definitely live with other animals. She would prefer if they were calmer animals like her though. She adores people, especially children, and is even gentle around toddlers (especially if they share snacks). Trixie is a pleasure to walk on leash, never pulling and generally sticking right in a natural heel position. She is pretty low energy, preferring to cuddle and snooze on the couch after her walks. She is medium velcro- she likes to be around her people and will follow around the house, but she has no problem being left alone. She is safe to be left loose when alone, she is housebroken and non-destructive, but she is also crate trained if needed. She loves a car ride, especially if it means she visiting new people to give her belly rubs!

Trixie is truly a special pup who deserves a nice home and family. Her ideal forever home would be a place where she can doze off on the couch, get some belly rubs, and hang out with her favorite people. Consider adding Trixie to your family today!

Mocha

Meet Mocha!
Mocha is a stunning purebred red merle Australian Shepherd with striking blue eyes and a personality to match. She’s a healthy, happy 3-year-old spayed female who has been fully vetted and is ready for her next adventure.

True to her breed, Mocha is energetic, intelligent, and thrives on activity. She loves to play fetch and can happily run for hours — the perfect match for someone with an active lifestyle who wants a loyal partner for hikes, runs, or long days outdoors.

Mocha came from a loving home with children and did wonderfully with them. She was surrendered only because her drive to explore led her to escape the yard several times, resulting in a few close calls with traffic. Because of this, she’ll need a very secure fence or a home committed to safe, supervised play and exercise.

While Mocha is incredibly sweet with people and forms deep bonds — she definitely has “her person” — she can be reactive toward other dogs. She’ll do best as the only pet in the household. She hasn’t been around cats, so her compatibility with them is unknown.

Mocha would thrive with an active, experienced family who can give her the structure, exercise, and companionship she loves. In return, she’ll offer tremendous loyalty, affection, and that classic Aussie devotion.

Mocha is fostered in VA.

KY Colette

KY Colette, 5 month old female black tri with lovely tail and classic white cross on her chest.  Colette, like her brothers, may be a mini because she is still under 20 lbs.  Colette is medium energy level, not wild, she settles nicely after a good play session.  There are no accidents in the house but she has free access to the outdoors.  She is respectful of the adult dogs on premises.  Colette is quite content to stay in the puppy pen when playtime is over.

Colette is being fostered near Gettysburg, PA.

Red Jax

Red Jax may be on the smaller side, but don’t let his size fool you — this 1-to-1.5-year-old red tri is packed full of charm, sweetness, and energy. With his constantly wagging tail and signature “smile,” Jax greets everyone like they’re already his best friend. He’s equal parts playful goofball and cuddle bug, and when he wants your attention, he’ll gently tap you with his paw and stare into your eyes.
Jax gets along beautifully with other dogs and children, and he’s even unbothered by parrots and backyard bunnies. He’s housebroken, crate-trained, and knows “sit.” In his crate he’s quiet, quickly settling in after a brief whine. When you go to let him out of his crate, he sits nicely with a toy in his mouth.
What Jax loves most of all? Being with his people. He’s a classic velcro pup, happiest when he’s part of the action — whether that’s joining you on a walk, playing with other dogs, or curling up at your side after a long day. Having spent time in an overcrowded shelter, he has quickly learned what it means to be a pet.
Jax doesn’t resource guard food or toys, happily shares with his foster siblings, and only occasionally jumps up for attention (gently, of course). He’ll thrive in a home with another playful dog or with humans who are around often to give him the love and companionship he craves.  He can be sneaky, so we are working on his attempts to steal food from the counter.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and joyful sidekick who will stick to you like glue, Red Jax is your guy.

Whisky

Meet Whisky! This big guy weighs 79lbs but needs to lose weight. He’s a 6yr old love bug. He loves attention, being pet, being near you and lots of love.
He is very sweet and gentle. His coat is gorgeous!
He is low energy, easy going and loves every person he meets. He has not been around cats but doesn’t appear to have a prey drive. .
He has quickly learned how to walk on a leash.
This beautiful pup loves dogs smaller than him. He does not like dogs his size or larger. (We have (2) 45lb dogs male and female and they get along great!
He is fine left in the house alone . We haven’t used a crate with this good boy.
He just wants your attention and lots of pets. The perfect home for Whisky would be one in which someone is home some/most of the day.

Whisky is fostered in SE PA.

Brian

Brian is a handsome 4-year-old red bi Aussie, weighing 38 pounds, no tail, and he’s ready for a new beginning. This housebroken boy rides well in the car and is easy to handle for grooming. He’s gentle with kids and has a calm, submissive nature. He has come a long way in foster and now trusts his main caregiver and is ready and able to form an attachment to a person. He spent most of his life living outdoors with minimal human contact.

While Brian tends to avoid human interaction at first, once he feels safe, he’s sweet and cooperative. He will do best in a home with a secure yard and at least one other playful doggie companion.  After a rough start, he’s now fantastic on leash. Brian crates easily but now sleeps peacefully through the night uncrated in the bedroom and can be left loose in the house when you’re away with no problem.

Brian now wiggles in response to sweet talk, and is very food motivated so he learns quickly and happily with a few treats.  He is such a nice boy, with a fantastically soft coat that he has learned to like having brushed.

This guy might take a little longer to integrate into a new household and adjust to new humans than a dog from a more conventional background. but he is so worth it!

Brian is fostered in PA.

Hold

These dogs in the New Spirit program are currently undergoing medical treatment or behavioral assessment. No applications are being accepted on them at this time. Please check back for updates.

Mangus – ADOPTION PENDING – is in the 30 pound range and presently on medical hold due to recuperation from an accident. He is approximately 8 years old and semi-velcro. He always wants to know where you are and can hear you move from two rooms away. He is totally trust worthy without a crate, but will slip into his crate periodically for a nap. He experienced some time on his own before being rescued so asks that we keep all garbage can lids closed. He does not play with toys but enjoys belly rubs while in your lap and loves hanging on the deck watching the deer and new fawns on the outside of the fencing.   NS3884

Bailey Blue is a work in progress, learning to trust people. She may have been abused or had some head injury or is just naturally extremely shy of people, but she is great with other dogs.  This girl is a flower waiting to bloom and it will take some time to see how much more progress she can make. She may never be a very social dog with people she doesn’t know but it’s clear she will learn to love and trust at least one or two people.  Bailey Blue is fostered in Collegeville, PA  NS3780
